Historic Fernandina and Amelia Island is more vibrant than ever! There is always something exciting to do or see. Many nationally acclaimed magazines have discovered the island and the surrounding marshes and waterways. Whether it is taking a in a show, enjoying our outdoor festivals, attending a community class, or simply hanging out and enjoying the unique culture. 

Shrimp Festival

The first weekend in May, Fernandina Beach celebrates the eight flags it has flown at the annual Shrimp Festival.  Thousands of visitors enjoy historic Fernandina Beach and appreciate the fresh, local seafood restaurateur’s offer during the festival.  With two stages of live entertainment, 300 award-winning artisans exhibiting, and a kid’s zone, a fun time is available for all ages.  The Festival kicks-off with a parade featuring over 100 floats, and young ladies enjoy competing in the Miss Shrimp Festival.  Shrimp Boats decorate the Amelia River and boaters relish the annual, “Blessing of the Fleet.” 

Concours D'Elegance

The Concours d’Elegance is among the top automotive events in the world.  Always held the second, full week of March, the event celebrates the automobile with over 300 rare vehicles showcased at The Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island and The Golf Club of Amelia Island at Summer Beach.  The show’s foundation supports Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.

Chamber Music Festival

Each year Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival provides access to first-rate classical chamber music.  The visiting artists are of national if not international stature, and together with the finest musicians from the southeastern United States, offer programs of traditional classic music, light classics, and music reflecting America’s roots.


TPC Sawgrass

Under an hour from Amelia Island is TPC Sawgrass, the national headquarters of the PGA Tour and the home of The Players Championship held each May.  The Players is one of the most anticipated tournaments on the PGA Tour, boasting not only the most talented on the tour but also the biggest purse!  Golfers and non-golfers from Northeast Florida enjoy a ticket to this local event.

Restaurant Week

Restaurant week is the premier dining event held annually in Amelia Island.  Spend the week touring the Island’s finest restaurants and dining on a variety of traditional and eclectic meal offerings.  This event promotes local establishments with a unique opportunity to taste the three-course palates Amelia Island offers.

RENDEZVOUS Film Festival

Rendezvous Film Festival is all about entertainment – film, games, and music.  This event brings the artists and community together for a nine-day celebration on Amelia Island.  The goal of the festival is to inspire creativity and imagination of new and experienced filmmakers, gamers, and musicians by showcasing the talent of industry professionals.   


Fernandina Beach Marketplace

Every Saturday, rain or shine, come out from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to North 7th Street for the farmers and arts market.  Farmers, growers, entrepreneurs, and artisans offer goods for sampling and purchase.  The whole family, and even your pet dog on a leash, will enjoy this weekly reunion of friends at the market.  The Spa and Shops at Omni Amelia Island Plantation also offers a Saturday morning, weekly farmers market.

Pétanque

Amelia Island is the venue for the international community of Pétanque – an Italian bowling game. Players pickup games at the sound end of downtown Marina on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The venue, surrounded by plenty of cafes and shops, is much like the French Mediterranean coast, where Pétanque started in 1907.

Sounds On Centre

The first Friday of each month April – October from 6 – 8 p.m., locals and visitors enjoy a free, community concert on Centre Street in downtown Fernandina Beach.  Bring a chair and a cooler and start the weekend with great music, street dancing, and the local pirates from the pirates club.
